The Roman Road to Salvation
Read what the Bible (the Word of God) tells us . . .

"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God."  I John 5:13

1.  A sinner must realize that Salvation is needed.

Because all have sinned.

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one."  Romans 3:10

"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."  Romans 3:23

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned --" Romans 5:12

Because unforgiven sin brings spiritual death.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 6:23

2.  A sinner must realize that Salvation has been provided.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

Jesus Christ, God's Son, died for our sins.  We are forgiven of our sins and reconciled to God through the death of Jesus.  God wants you to be saved.

". . . the goodness of God leads you to repentance."  Romans 2:4

3.  A sinner must accept and express the Salvation God has provided.

Salvation is received by faith and prayer, and expressed by confession.

"If  you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.  For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  Romans 10:9-13

Here is a suggested prayer:

"Dear Jesus, forgive me of my sins; come into my heart today; I trust you to take me to Heaven when I die.  Thank you for saving me.  Amen."

After you pray to accept Christ, Salvation is expressed by Baptism (Romans 6:3-6) and repentance/changed living (Romans 6:14-16) and by sharing Christ with others (Romans 10:10-11).   (Note:  Baptism is an expression of Salvation, NOT the key to Salvation).
